In terms of quality of fight: Calzaghe against Kessler. Two elite fighters both battling it out in a war. In terms of a one off moment of satisfaction it has to be Audley's fight against Sprott.
No, not at all. Ricky made everything good about it, I'm British and it was amazing seeing Hatton on the biggest stage in boxing giving it everything he had. F*ck Floyd.
Haye beating Mormeck was a good moment, almost as good as the look on Enzo Macc's face afterwards when he realised what might be coming his way!
I'd agree with that, but.... ...is just way over the top. For best ever event the fight has to be more competitive in my book.
Not best ever fight, of course not. But best event. When has a British fighter fought the best p4p guy in the world in his own town, a weight division up, and still only been a 7/4 outsider (albeit those odds were wrong - and I took Floyd at 4/6), had the hype that the fight had, the weigh in was sick... I rate that the best weigh in I've seen... I never expected Hatton do win, so when he got knocked on his arse - I'd been thinking that it'd happen since the fight was made so that took nothing away from the event for me, I think for the guys who believed in Hatton - yeh, the loss and way it happened I accept would ruin the event somewhat. But for me, that was how to put together a fight, American's p*ss me off - but the 24/7's were brilliant, the hype was brilliant, Beckham was there, Jude Law was there, Brad and Angelina were there, Tom Jones sang the anthem... You cannot beat the event that that was with a f*cking stick. The best British boxing has ever had. Calzaghe-Kessler? Did that happen this year? I can't remember. I remember Hatton-Mayweather. I loved Hatton-Mayweather.
Audley Harrison gettting Ko'ed by Sprott was hilarious. I must admit I enjoyed Ali Nuumbembe's win over Kevin Anderson as he seems a genuinely nice bloke who has had it tough, and deserved a big break in his career.
earl katsidis really was a great moment for me witter brutally koing harris and haye koing mormeck rounds 6-8 of khan limond was just pure excitement.....that boy will give us a great ride for the next few years calzaghe kessler was an exceptional fight ...and bobby gunn finding himself in a ring with a boxer and not knowing what to do was brilliant comedy as well.
for me, had to be vegas with ricky, the whole thing was awesome. fight wise earl katsidis was a blinder as was pavlik taylor and calzaghe kessler, but for me, fight of the year was the contender finale between bika and codrington, what a war that was... 2007. great year to be a boxing fan:happy :happy :happy :happy
