ha, what an idiot takes time out of his freakin training camp to shot like two seens, shows up in africa out of shape and gets his ass handed to him by a B fighter. That was brilliant.
Perhaps not the best, but Ray Mancini starred in a (late 70's Early 80's ??) Horror film about these oil rig workers who's drilling wakes up a big beastie that starts picking them off one by one, it also starred Lyle Alzado and i think, Ken Norton, the film itself was one of those many vairations/cash ins on the Aliens theme, i cant remember the title of the film, but remember thinking that ray was not at all bad.
James Toney when he played Joe Frazier in the Ali movie with will smith..I think Toney did an awesome job. That little role was perfect for him.
Max baer was good in the prizefighter and the lady, with primo carnera,he only took the fight to get close to primo to see what he was like and try and work him out for when he took him on for real for the title,he was also very good in the harder they fall, with bogart, that was a kind of stpry based on primo carnera to,about match fixing and the mob, also had a few other boxers in it Jersey Joe Walcott was great as the trainer
Rourke actually a boxer? Among non-U.S./non-U.K. fighters, these ones also starred in movies: Flash Elorde (former world jr. lw champion) Pedro Adigue (former world jr. ww champion) Manny Pacquiao (and still at it) I'd decline to comment on their acting though.
He had many other good performances as well including THE QUIET MAN where he overshadowed John Wayne.
