Roy was better at 168 than the best Calzaghe there, but Calzaghe is greater at the weight due to more accomplishments there.

Charles ranks #1 at 175. I'm not sure if he beats some of the other top LHWs in history though. I haven't enough footage of Charles, especially pre-Baroudi. I wouldn't pick Jones over Spinks and Foster at the weight.

Greatest middleweights are Greb, then Monzon on my list. Not sure about H2H though of Monzon against the likes of Hagler and Hopkins. They'd all be close fights IMO.

 

SMW is a young division, it's been around for about 25 years. Calzaghe's only real competition for the #1 spot is Jones, who spent a short time there.

Middleweight, Monzon has clearly the most impressive reign in the division's history. I'd rate him, Greb, Robinson, and Hagler over Hopkins for what they did at 160.

If Jones is a top 10 LHW, only just IMO. Charles should certainly be above him, as should the likes of Archie Moore, Michael Spinks, Bob Foster, Gene Tunney, Tommy Loughran, etc. Can't see the argument for Jones being #1 at LHW, not even in terms of H2H.

 

Calzaghe and Jones maybe but Hopkins no way for a start ahead of him would be Monzon Hagler Robinson and many others a case could also be made for Leonard and Hearns.

Why do people pick Moore for 175?

Ezzard Charles has a better resume, including his 3-0 (1) record against Moore. He proved himself to be an all-around superior fighter.

Moore's got longevity at the weight over Charles, but that's it. Not enough to put him over Charles IMO, certainly not.

He was best at light-heavyweight.

It was a testament to how great he was that he could win the HW title and make numerous defenses of it after moving up from his best division, and going through the emotional turmoil of having killed a man in the ring.

 

MW Harry Greb hands down. The guy fought 25x a year..half of his career with one eye. He also held the MW title and the LHW title and wanted dempsey for the HW title. No other Middle could match him in terms of stamina and toughness. Imagine hops fighting 25x a year LOL

SMW Who really cares, its a young division, Right now Calzaghe has done more than anyone else at SMW.

LHW is Gene Tunney. Perfect boxing style and strong. Only guy to beat him was Greb.


No modern fighter will ever be bad ass enough to fight more than 25x a year. Hell no elite fighter even fights more than 3x a year..Pussies!
