    I always loved how Thomas Hearns was called "The Motor City Cobra". It was a beautiful and poetic nickname, yet it really exemplified what Hearns was in the ring.

    Not a boxer's nickname, but I love the phrase "the tale of the tape". Leave it to pugilism to come up with such a great expression for a table that compares two boxers' measurements.

    Tommy Hearns had two great nicknames - as much as I liked The Motor City Cobra, The Hitman was even more badass.
