The ones I know enough about to comment on-

Joe Frazier vs Wladimir Klitschko- Frazier is the worst match up for Wlad in the history of the division imo. Frazier

Bob Foster vs Bernard Hopkins- Foster. I don't like how Hopkins was being hit by Pascal, even though he wasn't prime then, there wasn't that much of a difference between that Hopkins and the one that beat Tarver. Fosters power is no joke and he has decent handspeed, speed being Bernards kryptonite and all.

Carlos Monzon vs Sergio Martinez- Monzon. Technique won't even play a hiuge factor when Martinez is being controlled and forced to come in and fight, but tbh he can definitely smash Monzon with hard left hands when he steps in, I just don't see him scoring a ko and or staying inside and winning a fight in that aggressive manner, Monzon is sure to smash Martinez' ribs in etc if he lingers inside, at which point he will go ack outside and resume his eating of jabs.

Jose Napoles vs Floyd Mayweather- Everybody knows me, I'm the massive advocator of Floyd Mayweathers skills and of him in general as a fantastic and great fighter. But today you've given me the fight he isn't going to win in my opinion. I've always said the kryptonite for Napoles is physical strength and a good fighter who implements it and pushes him backwards, unloading and breaking up his rythm. It's the reason why I like Basilio, Leonard etc over Napoles. Anyhow, I love Mayweathers more recent style of fighting. He has declined somewhat physically, but not much at all. He is slower now. But he has improved both technically and as a ring general. His style today is not to go to the ropes or to use excessive lateral movement, but to dominate centre ring and to use footwork, not mobility, but footwork and to step around here and there in the middle of the ring so as to have his opponent out of position. He puts pressure on fighters, not in the conventional marauding sense, but in the mental sense. What he does is allows his opponents to come to him, and then counters the **** out of them, then when the opponent duly backs off to catch a moment to think, Mayweather approaches them and leads with single, hard, pounding shots, jabbing downstairs, leading upstairs with the right, and turning up the heat. Next thing, the opponents head is up his ass because whether he leads or goes on the back foot he is having his ass handed to him. Napoles would beat him for me because for one, Napoles is simply not going to be outoxed. Napoles is superior in the feinting department, has a better jab upstairs, and likely has better mobility. Napoles is constantly changing direction in such a smooth manner that it simply becomes his pattern to casually do as he pleases, slipping shots, turning the heat up and down as quick as anything. This is why fighters had to pressure him to stop his rythm, they had to **** him up to be in with a chance. Mayweather can lead as I said earlier, and he would do here. But I don't think he is going to maraud very well and cut the ring down in sync with successfully unloading combos of punches. If there is one major gulf in class in any department in this one it is combination punching, and that department only. Napoles is so superior in that department. Mayweather has been known to put punches in bunches, and when he does a lot of the time if the combination consists of more than three shots then he is effectively flurrying rather than combo'ing, it works for him because of his speed. Napoles throws some of the most technically immaculate combos ever seen on film. Not that it matters too much when the key word is 'effectiveness', and not 'correct'. Anyhow, to the point- Mayweather advancing and mixing it up with Napoles won't work out for him imo. The only way Floyd wins is if he gets in the ring and he is simply too good for Napoles and he outoxes him. I don't predict that that happens.

Nicolino Locche vs Tim Bradley- Locche all day and all year.

Ken Buchanan vs Juan Manuel Marquez- One thing that Buchanan has on paper is Marquez' kryptonite, which has always been lateral movement and or footwork, which is the weakness of Marquez. Now one thing I will say in massive favour of Marquez is that even when a styles match up is against him, there are times when he simply shows the gulf in class and wins regardless, his will to win is ATG for sure. An example of this is his fight with Chris John. Even though he had a styles disadvatage against the pure boxer who would seemingly not engage him so as to let Marquez destroy him with his amazing combos, Marquez won anyway (and yes he did) simply because he is just better than John. Sometimes being some bit better than your opponent voids the styles issue. Anyway, Buchanan was a fighter who would constantly circle his opponent whilst mixing it up with jabs. It's interesting, because he holds Buchanans kryptonite in the lateral movement but he also holds something Marquez will love him for in that he mixes it up a lot. He is in range very much and you can't expect to be in Marquez' range mixing it up with combos and flurries and not take some form of a pounding. This would be a classic. I edge towards Buchanan on the strength of him taking some rounds clear enough to edge it for him.

Ruben Olivares vs Nonito Donaire- Donaire is ****ing brilliant. I just have to favour Olivares over him on what I've seen so far. Olivares is one of the best pressure fighting ko artists I've ever seen on film. The way he turns the knuckles at the optimal moment is something every kid who doesn't have natural power should practice, that's how you GENERATE power. I have to pick him sorry. Just one of those things. I may change my mind at a later date, you never know.

 

things would get really bad for Marquez if he struggles with Buchanan's angles like he did with John, mind you.

Buchanan can get overrated on here, but i reckon the smaller Marquez is someone he could really put a showcase performance on against.Nothing Marquez throws will even remotely bother him and with the footwork and speed edge it's always going to be him dicatating when and where the exchanges take place.
