An 1996 Documentary with Boxing experts discussing who was the greatest pound for pound fighter ever [yt]ArB-GoJXpDc[/yt] [yt]OFM1hmQT0Kk[/yt] [yt]xIoE9v-5UEc[/yt] [yt]Bmf_rxmG3dU[/yt] [yt]r9zLoqf--R4[/yt]
Top 3: 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Rocky Marciano 3. Floyd Mayweather Ali runs all three close, but what these three have achieved eclipses him IMO. No doubt many will disagree. British P4P all time: 1. Ken Buchanan 2/3. Joe Calzaghe/Ricky Hatton/Lennox Lewis I can't chose between these three for the second and third spots!
Yeah, no doubt. atsch Because this is a dumb ass statement! Floyds accomplishments eclipse what Ali has achieved? Your joking right? Tell me this is a joke :deal
Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis would probably be my top picks. people will be apt to brush Joe aside but he was a scary scary man in his day. "Joe hit me 7 time while I was in the act of falling"
World champion in five weight classes, still undefeated. Beaten pretty much every live challenger, and come out without a mark on him. Never suffered a real knockdown. Sounds pretty good to me.
Thanks Pharaoh - watching it now but they sound like a bunch of bullshitters to me At the mo I got - 1 - Sam Langford 2 - Sugar Ray Robinson 3 - Henry Armstrong 4 - Harry Greb 5 - Ezzard Charles This is my top 5 just now, be interesting to see. ****ing "Ted Kid Lewis" that idiot is trying to push, Bull****, total. Anyway, top 5 Britain - 1 - Jimmy Wilde 2 - Bob Fitzimmons (if you want to count him) 3 - Ted Kid Lewis 4 - Lennox Lewis 5 - Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe could move as high as third I think.
But the mark of greatness is what happens when there IS adversity, and how the boxer deals with it. Being undefeated against mostly partial champions and contenders is a very good trick. But there is still a bit to prove before we call Floyd best of all time. He's on the doorstep, but has not fully convinced everybody.
Muhammad Ali beat Patterson, Liston 2Xs, Frazier 2Xs, Foreman (when Foreman had a 'tysonesque' aura about him). Those are 4 top 20 Heavyweights, possibly top 15 and 3 top 10. He beat them all when they were still either in their prime or damn close to it. Who has Floyd Mayweather beaten? Live Challengers???? :rofl :rofl :rofl Where are the All-Time Greats and HOFers?
These are not good lists IMO. Buchanan is def worth a mention though because he's underated, so it's nice to see him get a bit of love. But why no Wilde or Ted Lewis on your British list? Marciano and Mayweather are both fainly ridiculous picks in my view.
Someone had to say it. I'm actually softening my position on old China Chin though, he may have creeped into my top 20.
