Tyson. George has said post-retirement he didn't think he could have beaten Mike in his return. If George could be beat by Tommy Morrison he could be beat by 90s Tyson. Not saying it'd be easy for Mike though.
Wrong, George said on David Letterman after ko'ing Cooney the reason he came back was Mike Tyson, he said I promise you no more than one or two rounds. Tyson wanted no part of Foreman.
I think Tyson who beat Ruddock stops George late in a bloody brawl where both men land and take some hard shots. After returning from prison im not sure. Think Tyson lost a lot during those years
He was pointing out what foreman said “ post retirement. “ but yes when his comeback was still in progress he sang a different tune. The object was to make as much money as he could and if possible win the title again.
Bingo. Yes, I was referring to what George post final retirement has said on the subject of him ever fighting Mike. The timing of George's initial comeback coincided with Mike being at the height of his fame, it made sense he was calling him out then. Everyone trying to make or reestablish a name was.
During the 1990's, Tyson and Foreman were at their best in the earlier part of the decade (1990/1991). The two had great punching power and chin, but the difference in youth, handspeed and footspeed is too wide for Foreman to be competitive. Foreman would have been game but stopped during the mid rounds after being knocked down (Tyson always knocked down the opponents he stopped).
Do we mean post Douglas or post prison comebacks for Mike? I make post Douglas, and let's remember he was still a fighter who'd fallen in love with his power and neglected his movement and speed by then, against peak old George maybe a 60/40 for George, and I think Old George brutalises post prison Tyson. Peak Tyson was a phenom and I doubt we'll see his likes again, but boy his light burnt bright...but quickly....
George of the Holyfield fight and some time prior would be my bet, unless Tyson calls uncle Patterson to teach him how to reinvent himself into the patient boxer Floyd became in his later years, especially against Oscar Bonavena.
