Best of the Non-Best: HW division

    I think it should be "Best of the Non-best".

    Well, I woukd just say "Second best" but each to their own.

    I think Langford was almost certainly No.1 at some point on the 1910s.

    Machen was never the highest ranked in the division. Someone was always above him.

    That's not the same thing, though. The second best of an era could have possibly been number one at one point in the era. The best of the none best is the best fighter to never be known as the best.

    I don't ever recall Machen being considered the number 1 HW in the world.

    Like we said though, he was never the number 1 in the division.
