For a fighter considered a "defensive specialist" Pernell Whitaker
    could be absolutely brilliant offensively.
Ray Leonard was opposite , Ray was an devastating offensive
machine, but when he choose to, he was almost impossible to
    land on cleanly.

Some of the Latin boxers were brilliant at offence and defense.
Jose Napoles just a brilliant two way fighter.
    Miguel Canto
Wilfredo Gomez before he fell in love with his power
    Sal Sanchez
    Esubio Pedroza a complete master
Hector Camacho before he became gun shy.
Julio Chavez Sr. Especially when considering his aggression.
And probably the greatest of them all
Roberto Duran at welter and below.

A couple more that should be honorable mentions....
    Mike Tyson between 1985-1989
Joe Frazier believe it or not, especially
    when considering his aggression.
his ability to force his opponents
to fight, than duck/slip and counter
with that left hook in close or from
    distance was amazing.

Camacho is a top mention, even if only for a short time. Immensely hard to hit while being quite aggressive with blinding speed from all angles. Before the Rosario fight he was really something.

I don’t think Gomez ever had a “great” defence do you have any bouts to exhibit this? I’ve seen all of his title run, excluding the bouts against the stiffs got fed the “keep busy” bouts and his major pre title bouts.

Camacho when I first saw him all those years ago I thought he had all the tools to be an ATG, maybe even the GOAT.
He seemed to have more talent than Ray Leonard. Who eventually ended up the fighter of the 1980's decade.
But , the importance of " letting it play out" should have Camacho's name right by it as an example.
Drugs , lackadaisical training and dedication, one right hand from Rasario completely changed the trajectory of his career.
Sad. Even sadder the way his end came, shot dead on the streets of Puerto Rico .

So you disagree with one of the eight mentioned? I'll take that.
But Gomez had all the talent in the world at both offense and defense before he fell in love with his power.

I think so, I’ve never seen Pedroza what’s a good fight of his? I’d like to watch him if he’s in this discussion. Do you have a Bazooka Gomez fight to show me his defence? He got hurt or staggered in every fight I saw, he never had an easy fight expect funnily enough with Zarate who was the best guy he fought… which is why I think Zarate really was sick.

Pat Ford (Pedroza was far more impressive against him than the legendary Sal Sanchez, one fight prior)
Hector Carasquilla , Ruben Olivaires, (But tbh he was at the end of a long career) Juan Laporte,
(Also a lesson on how to foul without getting caught lol) Rocky Lockridge (2nd fight much better showing than
    the 1st.

Yeah Camacho had the tools to be an ATG IMO. Absolutely. Drugs, training and dedication, you hit it on the head. Maybe lacking a touch of heart and mental fortitude (comparative to some of his peers) in the long haul as well. People talk about him going the distance and gutting it out vs Chavez and others when he had declined but it's not the same. Thing was he did have a damned good chin, and then some.

I was mesmerized by his performance against a peak Joe Luis Ramirez. He barely got hit while putting a whooping on him. It was a very special performance. Sure, he speed was bad news for Ramirez but he just put on a clinic, and dropped him to boot. Not many would have lassoed him that night.

Best Defence: For me, this is between Qawi and Chang. Both could be inhumanly elusive when they put their minds to it.

Beat Offense: The best offense of a defensive fighter I've ever seen is probably Ezzard Charles. A defensive genius, who could send just about anyone else to the floor in a hurry.

Best defense on an offensive fighter not yet mentioned: Henry Armstrong. Pretty much established the template of weaving under the jab and deftly positioning his head in close. Looks like he should get hit a lot, but rarely gets hit that clean in all the film I see.

Best offense on a defensive fighter: Willie Pep scored 65 KO's, which is pretty respectable for someone regarded as an all-time featherfist. Might well have been more had he not had the plane crash or worn the cuffs in a lot of his fights.

whitaker came to my mind first.

the offensive fighter is harder to answer. qawi was a good call.
