(I'm the dumb, already a ton of mistakes, making a joke of this thread...sigh)

First of all, thanks to ESB for helping me figure out this short list. This is for LINEAL Champions only.

I'm not including Holyfield in this list for two reasons. Number 1 is he is easily the answer and 2 is he held the title multiple times, and I'm just looking for one off guys.

    The list is -

Michael Moorer (Beat Holyfield, Lost to Foreman)
    Briggs (Foreman, Lewis)
    Buster Douglas (Tyson, Foreman)
    Leon Spinks (Ali, Ali)
    Ingermar Johansson (Patterson, Patterson)
    James Braddock (Baer, Louis)
    Bob Fitzsimmons (Corbett, Jeffries)
    Hasim Rahman (Lewis, Lewis)

I forgot to add Bob in the poll, vote for him in the thread, as I don't see how to edit the poll

I think my answer in order from best to worst is Moorer, Douglas, Johansson, Braddock, Briggs, Spinks. Though the last three to me are really interchangeable

Dont forget Sergei Liakhovich (Beat Brewster, Lost to Briggs)

    Both fights were highly entertaining.

Great question. Have been on forums, since 2003, and never seen it asked.

I'd rule out Briggs, for a start. Foreman fight abit controversial and he was wasn't beating prime like some of the others. That means, Leon is also out - big event and win but Ali was done.

Moorer, gets overlooked, but a very decent fighter. The win over Holyfied, was quality but it's the Foreman defeat that plagues him.
Johansson was very good and the win over Patterson very big news. Braddock was a big upset over Baer.

All the champions, that they beat, had weaknesses but I'd say the Buster Douglas win over Tyson. It was completely unexpected despite him being a very talented fighter. He had the skills but ran out of steam later on, not the most dedicated.

What he did in Tokyo, was truly amazing.

I don't disagree, with the order of your list - perfectly acceptable.

Damn, saw he had a fight between losing, didn't realize it wasn't for the title.

I knew I would mess something up.

Bruno was never the lineal champion.

Though with the streak I'm on lately maybe I should double check...

Missed out Hart, Sharkey and Baer.

Norton doesn't count as lineal, but he is the best heavyweight titlist to never defend the title.

Tommy Morrison and Michael Bentt, although not the best, also fit the profile.
