I have seen those fights big guy, and Clottey does slap with that left hook very often, both to the head and body. If you don't understand that then you don't understand the technical aspects of throwing a proper punch. He puts his body weight well into his right hand, probably too much as he falls in with it at times, but that left is as weak as it gets. Someone should teach him to turn that punch over for the full power effect 'cause those slaps aren't going to do a damn thing to Cotto.

Those slaps were hurting Margarito, and he's a hell of a lot sturdier than Cotto. Cotto isn't exactly the hardest fighter to hurt either.

I watched some clips of Clottey fighting Corrales and I think their hand speed (Clottey and Cotto) are pretty much the same. Perhaps one might be slightly faster than the other, but nothing really that good timing can't beat. Cotto doesn't hide behind his promoter, in fact the only times I've heard him ask for other opponents he's usually asking for the top fighter, not avoiding anyone like what I think you implied. Of course Arum never listens, but then again Cotto is thinking of not renewing his contract with Top Rank.

Berto, he should bring more action than Clottey. Unify with any champ.

Cotto constantly hides behind his promoter with his whole "I fight who they tell me to fight" routine. However, Arum recently came out and said that he doesn't chose whom his guys fights, he only suggests fighters. So it seems to me like this would be a great opportunity for Cotto to assert himself. So he can either aggresively pursue a fight with one of the other top Welters, or he can sit back and let Arum feed him another set-up.

Besides Mosley(which is an obvious fight that everyone wants to see), he should fight clottey next. Besides the fact that people want to simply see cintron get his ass beat by anyone, he doesnt bring nothing to the table. Atleast Clottey brings a belt.

I hit the wrong button - meant to say Clottey, for some reason I pushed Cintron.

Miguel Cotto is someone who doesn't want to be known for the kind of person he is but rather by the fighter he is. I'm not saying people have to agree with him, but that's why he's very reserved with the media even when they are practically begging for him to call someone out. The fighters job is to fight and that's what he does, it's obvious he has a say on who he fights, but that doesn't he's the one that hand picks his opponents for his convenience. Top Rank gives Miguel the options, and then they all talk but in the end you and I know the decisions are based on the promoter's preference and not the fighter, and that's why Cotto says he'll fight anyone the Company puts in front of him.

In his post fight ring interview on Saturday he said he would fight Clottey, Mosley or the winner of Pac/Hatton. He has fought SSM, Margarito, Judah and Quintana, because Cotto is a humble guy and doesn't call out fighters don't say that he is hiding behind his promoter as it implies that he is scared to fight these guys.

Cotto doesn't have to call anyone out. He just has to go to Top Rank, give them a list of guys, and tell them to make it happen. You think Shaw wanted to match Darchinyan with Mijares? Hell no. Darchinyan is the one who pushed for the fight. It's Cotto's career, he needs to take control of it unless he just wants to fight for vacant titles for the rest of his career.

Yes, I think he would benefit from that, but I still think it's unfair to say Cotto hides behind his promoter.

When you let your promoter constantly dictate who you fight, then yes, you are hiding behind them. You can call it being scared, avoiding fighters, whatever the hell you want to call it. However, Cotto is too good to be fighting people like Jennings for worthless trinkets. This humble **** aint gonna cut it forever. His contract is up soon, and he has a lot of leverage. No more of these fights against set-ups for vacant belts.

It's unfair that loyal Cotto fans have to use their hard earned money to see their favorite fighter take on grossly overmatched opponents who haven't competed outside of the regional level.
