After he wins the S6, HBO will no doubt be coming hard after him. There's one potential huge carrot dangling over there for him, BHOP. Bute's locked in to Showtime for another fight after Johnson. A lot of people would like to see 168 settled with that fight, but if Hopkins beats Dawson, I think it's a no brainer for Ward to move up and take on the more prestigious opponent for the bigger payday. If Bute wins his final fight on Showtime, probably against Kessler, then Ward can revisit that fight, or a Dirrell fight. But at this stage of the game, Hopkins or Bute, there's just no question which is the bigger, more meaningful fight.
why? Less money, smaller name? Bute will be around for awhile. Hopkins obviously won't. Ward can be the one to end Bhops career.
the winner of Froch Ward should fight Bute. I am pretty sure Froch will if he wins, but between Ward & Bute I see it being very hard to make an agreement.
Bute. End of discussion. The entire Stupid 6 tournament was designed to find out who was worthy to challenge Lucian.
Your correct in what you say , HBO are gonna come after Ward and make him a big offer , that said HBO as it stands right now may not be in a position to offer Ward anything ST cannot offer him for a Bute fight , a Bute fight in Canada is absolutley catastrophic , it would be huge , and would generate a good revenue package for Ward Again , that said ................... what if HBO can secure Dirrell or Kessler 2 , again there big fights , and would keep Ward in pocket until HBO can work on securing Bute , but for me Bute's staying where he is , and i cant see him fighting Ward in the states , it doesnt make sense financially for him , it will be interesting how this situation unfolds Thats because Dawson is going to beat him to it :deal
sounds like you just made that up. Goossen has said that Andre is on the record stating Hopkins is an attractive opponent.
it will be interesting. The fact still remains that Showtime's boxing budget cannot sniff HBO's. The S6 paydays were not all that special, what made it so good for a young guy like Ward was the exposure and the 3 initial guaranteed paydays, win or lose, though. I recognize that people want clarity in divisions but I'm not asking what's the fans best option. I'm asking what Ward's is. I think for present and future it's an immediate fight with Hopkins, yea if Dawson doesn't take him first. If Dawson wins, then I'd agree on Bute.
Why would I make that up? Perhaps something has changed since then but he did say something along those lines at some point.
Battle of opposing styles first (they're not that different technically, but Froch will not go to war with Ward no how, and he's considerably slicker and will pull all the stops) Froch could give him some frustration with his movement and I'd hate to see this end by a clash of heads when they do meet toe to toe. Ward's head movement reminds me of NY drivers Bute is the logical progression, but he's got to box a war horse who in my view is nearly literally impossible to stop first as well, which Bute has been resorting to frequently. BHOP-Ward would be a very interesting match; would be pulling for Ward 100%; I think he's the better boxer, certainly deserving of a Bute fight even if Froch gets the decision, and the super six risks ended a lot of careers, so he was very brave to go the distance.
In this interview from last month he seems pretty reluctant about wanting to face Bernard: http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/168437-ward-talks-froch-bute-kessler-and-hopkins
