Kovalev said he will be back. But what scenario is best if he wants to win a title again? I know it might seem counter logical to suggest he should move up weight class, because the cruiserweight hit harder, but Kovalev is slightly slowing down, trying to box more with McGirt, and strangely seems physically drained in the championship rounds at LHW. The way he got stunned by a temple shot and then finished in dramatic fashion suggest that his capacity to absorb shot is now dangerously diminished at LHW. I don't think he should fight anymore at this weight, he should build his mass and move up. Correct me if I am wrong but increasing your mass can affect positively your capacity to take punishment. Kovalev would probably be considered a very fast cruiserweight and he has the tool to succeed, a jab and still plenty of power. What do you think?

That is what I think in the first place, but the ego of the Krusher will not give up like that. I think he will try to find a way back to a title.

He should retire while his faculties are still intact because he's quite clearly shot. He has a large family in Russia who he takes care of and thankfully he finally earned the kind of purse his talent has always deserved last night so that's one good thing that came out of it. He's had a fantastic career despite having to face and overcome way more than his fair share of hardship and adversity both in and out of the ring. Time to call it a day.

I guess he could square off with Beterbiev in a grudge match to settle old scores and get himself brutally KO'd in a round or two by one of the top 3 most savage punchers in the sport, a distinction he himself once held many moons ago when he was back in his prime as he did the P4P#2 slot for a while too - and that 2 would've been replaced with a 1 had he not been robbed against Ward what with him being a fearless road warrior and all and ''doing it the hard way.'' Not bad going at all.

He has been knocked out 3 times now and hurt enough. He is not taking the punches well anymore.
