    Good post about Jones vs Lacey. I was at that fight and felt really lucky that Jones gave a good performance that night. I had seen him vs Johnson as well and felt let down, so this was redemption lol.

    Trinidad vs Mayorga? I mean he wasn't shot, but he wasn't the old Tito and the comeback never went anywhere. Mayorga isn't a great opponent, but Tito looked very sharp and people were excited about his comeback.

    53 year old Holmes vs the Bean was good to watch lol.

    Morales agaisnt Maidana. Morales, completely shot and fighting with 1 eye from the first or second round, went to war with Maidana and very nearly won the fight. He obviously won the event with his gutsy performance, but comming within a round or two from winning the fight against the rugged and primed Maidana was incredible.

    Sonny Liston versus Henry Clark {July 1968}

    A 41 year-old Sonny, puts it all together in his last good effort.

    Only 2-months earlier, Sonny looked 'pathetic' against Billy Joiner.

    When I saw the thread title, first fight that jumped to mind was Morales-Maidana.

    I'm going to give Golota a shout out for the Mike Mollo fight.

    Golota was already far past his best by the time he fought Byrd and Ruiz (and arguably beat them). By the time he faced Kevin McBride, he had become painfully slow. He had a few scares in the McBride fight, and a lot of observers felt Mollo would blast him away.

    For the first time in his career he overcame adversity, despite being blind in one eye for much of the contest.

    Incidentally, he should have retired on that note: Finally overcoming adversity against a younger local rival.

    Does Jerry Quarry get any 'marks' for knocking-out Italian, Lorenzo Zanon in 1977.

    Perfect pick in the sense that he appeared to be past it or nearly so, was badly slurring his words, and his own trainer quit him in protest, fearing for the health of his brain, and he was going up against an undefeated 30-0 champion, and won!

    Surely Foreman against Moorer would rank incredibly high in your eyes as well then?

    Very....very true. A fighter can be passed his very best and turn out a great performance,but a shot fighter can only look terrible.
