Young Griffo fought two draws with George Dixon that were considered masterful performances.

Top fight indeed. Both men were very, very talented, and the fight was the most physical encounter in years. The body punching was fierce, the head shots deafening and the fact it lasted 15 rounds is testament to the courage and ability of both men.

George Barnes going the distance with Freddie Dawson was a classic. Dawson was out on his feet during the final rounds after taking some vicious body shots throughout the fight.
The Ron Richards victory over Gus Lesnevich was incredible, yet seemingly forgotten.

wtf, i never ever knew mal ever put on boxing gloves!

as for the best performance by an aussie, it would have to be Anthony Mundine beating Crazy Kim.
That fight was about courage , determination and heart. Mundine dug deep, got off the canvass and showed why he is australia's greatest boxer. :patsch .

A great contest - was there to see it - should have had a few less beers - but still took it in and remember it well.

No it wasn't that bad mate. IBF actually got off to a fairly good start. They handed Holmes the heavyweight title and when he ditched the WBC due to mandatory committments hey presto! Instant profile!
