We expected some good, close fights, but we got several really impressive performances. Whose was the most impressive? Crawford-Molina and Joshua-Molina were mismatches. I really liked Lipanets, and Charlo looked great, but Mares gets my vote with his schooling of Cuellar.
Charlo considering the opponent, followed by Mares, followed by Crawford. Crawford's was the most flawless but he could have done more sooner against someone not even ranked in the top 10.
Charlo was most impressive. Williams hasn't fought anybody yet, but it's a win that will look better and better as time goes by as Williams starts getting some quality wins. Charlo was going to lose on points if he didn't get the stoppage. He wasn't going to outbox Williams.
Yeah, when they were strictly boxing Williams had the slight edge, but Charlo saw he could open Williams up when he exchanged. And then Charlo's speed and power advantage was huge. This is why young guys talents these days don't step up against other young, fairly unproven guys. If they win it doesn't necessarily mean much. Williams might not recover and reach the top, so the win might not look better later. In this case we should grade Charlo's win in the vacuum of just what he did in the ring, which was really damn good.
I think Williams got caught in the moment. He was the quicker guy, but he wouldn't duck out, or move away after landing the shots. He would usually stay right in front of Charlo, which isn't a problem if you are always ready to slip. If you look at the shot that ended it, Williams had just threw a right hand, and he was caught admiring his blocked punch, instead of ducking away or slipping to the side or something. He presented a stationary target with his chin not tucked. I thought this was the best that I have seen Charlo look, as far as his sharpness. This Charlo would have KO'd Trout. I think Williams can bounce back. I look forward to seeing both again.
Williams would beat everybody that Canelo has beaten. He wouldn't need a gift decision to beat Lara or Trout either.
Sorry, Williams hasn't beat anybody. For someone to say some hyped boxer is better than all of Canelo's opponents is silly.
Mares was the betting underdog... So I lean towards him slightly, but Charlo has a real case. Either or is fine by me.
Charlo or Mares. Parker looked bad, that was a joke right?, Joshua's opponent didn't even try, Crawford and Lipinets did well but they were supposed to win.
