I agree... Rocky, as a counter, threw a rather good left hook himself in a championship fight.

Of course it may have taken another against a Klit or two, or even a Valuev in the non Classic sense... a one point deduction for a club to the nuts will always drop a tomato can Slav for the count If not, they got more balls they I'd ever give them..

I think Sonny Liston's was the most devastating in history. It was Wicked heavy, sharp, accurate, and he could deliver it long and short. Joe Louis is a close 2nd. Joe Frazier right up there with his god given left hook.

Walcotts left hook on charles was the most perfectly timed executed left hook in boxing history captured on film.

 

Where would you rate SRR - Fullmer and Foster's famous KO as well?

although he wasn't a great henry cooper had a great left hook.what is often forgotten in all the hullabaloo regarding his knockdown of clay and the split glove etc. is actually how good of a punch it was.

Jack Dempsey or Joe Louis probably delivered the best left hooks on a consistent basis.

But there's really not anything much to seperate them from Frazier, Liston, Walcott, Tyson, Holyfield etc.
Tua may have hit the hardest, and Morrison deserves his praises. They say fat Tony Galento knocked guys out of the ring with his left on more than one occasion.

And the list could go on. There are a couple of dozen heavyweights at least who had "biblical" power in the left hook, and another dozen who had exquisite short sharp accuracy and timing.

that one he hit koed charles with was indeed devastating. it sure looks more like a hook to me than an uppercut. he dropped marciano with another picture perfect one. he also suckered louis to come in with his crafty footwork and dropped him with that punch. he had great timing with it

here it is in action 1:34 into the video. the announcer says its a hook and the angle is no more than 45 degrees...
