Interesting point - is a long reach ALWAYS an advantage?

Only when taken advantage of effectively. For all their myriad of flaws, Willard and Carnera also possessed decent jabs, something which set them apart from similarly sized contemporaries. Buddy Baer does not display Carnera's jabbing proficiency in the footage of his two title shots at Louis, and Buddy only posted one ten round decision win in his 60 fight career. Neither did 6'9-1/2" Victorio Campolo or 6'7-1/2" Ray Impelletiere demonstrate Primo's ability with the jab, and Carnera got the better of both. Tommy Loughran also soundly outjabbed Campolo and Impelletiere, but Carnera fairly decisioned Tommy over 15. The man had some skill.

Watch Tommy school Jimmy Braddock sometime for a tutorial on how to neutralize a taller opponent with longer arms.

Put Jack Blackburns brain in Joe Louis's body.

    Give him Oliver McCalls chin.

In fact, dont bother to give him McCalls chin.

It would all be the same anyway.

Maybe take Tysons uppercuts over Lennox's, Combination I'd pick either Patterson or Tyson.

This is a little of an overgeneralization. Muhammad did take the aggressor's role and demonstrate a competent body attack against Bugner and Blue Lewis. He also made the fight over the first five rounds with Mac Foster, trying to make good on his prediction of a fifth round knockout, only reverting back to his characteristic dancing once round six got underway. (To me, this is one of the more interesting performances of his career.)

The real problem with Jimmy Young was Muhammad's poor conditioning. If properly trained, Ali would have decisioned him very comfortably. He'd shared the ring with Young before and knew Jimmy couldn't hurt him.

Jeffries had a better chin than McCall.

He took the best Fitzsimmons and Corbett could throw with only 5 oz gloves.

McCall took big shots of Lennox, but if they had been from 5 oz gloves....:hi:

Fitz was also nearly a hundred pounds lighter than Lennox.
