If you could pick any famous person or athlete (that isn't in a combat sport) and have them start boxing when they were young who do you think could be an actual contender?

I might pick Oliver Rioux. 7' 9" weighing 305 lbs with a reach of 8'! He is agile and well coordinated. He could be a greater fighter using his agility and reach.

Why get punched in the face when you can cash in on basketball money?

Not everyone can cash in on basketball money just because you’re freakishly tall don’t mean you must be able to can run around an shoot a basket well

I guess my specific pick is Shaq. Very much not the skinny build of many of the tall guys, yet proved to be an ATG in his chosen sport. Over 7ft tall, 91in reach, around 300lbs in his prime.

the big thing about basketball are the opportunities for earning a nice living for the guys who aren’t quite good enough for the NBA by playing overseas.

My sister’s husband’s sister is married to one of those dudes. He was a college star, played one season in the NBA but washed out, has been playing (in Italy I believe) ever since. He makes real good money, most of which they save as the team pays for everything, and they travel all across Europe for his games, and have been doing so for like a decade. By the time he’s too old to play anymore, they’ll have enough to retire. With no concerns of CTE.

a not quite good enough boxer makes basically nothing, probably retires with CTE.

as much as I love boxing, for the guys actually doing it, basketball is so much of a better deal.

Naw physical attributes, sure may be GOAT potential but lowkey a crybaby bully that doesn't have that "dawg" in him. Barkley punked his ass hard during Shaq's prime.

Historically I'd throw Bruce Lee in there, his lb for lb strength is absolutely absurd and has GOAT lvl speed/stamina/mental fortitude as well.

Lower weight classes, probably someone like Lee Chong Wei. (Google him) he is a badminton player. World class cardio, hand eye coordination

This guy probably punches like a baseball bat. His strength is incredible for his frame. Bone, tendons, cartilage, etc… are like a gorilla.

Seems like a lot of Rugby players turn into half decent boxers in quick time. Those are some big tough boys, whoever the baddest Samoan rugby player is would be my pick.

I asked AI to name some other sportsmen or celebrities who had a build like Mike Tyson and it mentioned Putin.

Ive always thought Ray Lewis had the athleticism, toughness and mentality to have potential boxing but I didnt realize how 'small' he is. Hes only 6'1".

I know hes seen as soft but an obvious answer is it would be interesting to see what Lebron could have done.

Also would have been interested to see Ben Wallace and Ron Artest.

Brandon Marshal has done some boxing training, I was really looking forward to him starting a career and really dont understand why hes squandered that.... but would have been interesting to see what he could have been capable of.

    Donald Trump.

I’d like to see him in there with Foreman. Or Shavers. Or Liston. Hell, any decent heavyweight.

Bobo Balde who used to play for Celtic!!

Fun thread this, but in all honesty the only thing that matters in boxing or any fighting sport is how you react when you get cracked in the chin. That's why not many people can box. Simples

I love his videos. Cracks me up when he walks up to dudes like 3x his size with bulging muscles, and then deadlifts what they were doing like it's nothing. His goofy eastern european guy act only adds to it.

I've looked him up. He's a top pro, specifically for deadlift (which is why he goes after deadlifters in most vids). He's close to world record levels for deadlift for his weight.

    Absolute freak muscle density.
