    Carlos Monzon or Roberto Duran?

I can't make my mind up re which one of these two guys takes it.
I rate Muhammad Ali at number 3. Considering that he was past prime in this decade it was a magnificent achievement by Ali.

I got Duran. Such a pleasure to watch at LW. The man could do it all

Duran’s record in the 70s was phenomenal. I can’t see beyond him. It would have been perfect too if the superbly named Esteban de Jesus hadn’t done him. I’m sure there was a headline somewhere after that fight that said
“Jesus beats God!” That’s how some people saw Duran! I wouldn’t go that far but 70 plus wins and one defeat is incredible.

Today it's Duran for me with Ali second and King Carlos third. It might change next week.

Ali is third. Happy to toss a coin re Duran and Monzon. I’d probably pick Duran but it’s close.

Duran makes the most sense to me but I wouldn’t say it was by a big margin. The 70s were loaded with great fighters

Good posts from you all. If the 'Brawl in Montreal' had come off just six months earlier it would have been a no brainer.

    Duran.
And Ali ain't anywhere near the top 3 in the 70s. The title of the thread is "best p4p fighter of the 70s", thus Ali's achievements are irrelevant, it's all about peak form.
