Some great quotes in this thread: "Mick Hennessy made Carl Froch" "All Eddie Hearn does is get the best fights for his boxers"
Mick Hennessy did everything for Carl Froch. I cannot believe his efforts are being overlooked. The treatment of Mick Hennessy on this forum is a tragedy of British boxing.
Yep, Mick has known Carl from a boy, providing the motivation, drive and inspiration he needed to succeed as a fighter. Lets not forget those long night Froch spent on the pads with Hennessey, really perfecting his technique and learning those nuances of boxing that only Mick Hennessey knows. It was in these times Carl Froch as a boxer was forged.
he signed him straight out the ams, he positioned him with decent fighters through British and Euro level, got him the English, British and Commonwealth titles, got him a shot at the vacant WBC belt in his hometown on ITV, and secured him a slot in the Super Six making him much more money from US tv than he got at home. Mick did well by Carl.
:deal The only thing Hennessy couldn't seem to do was build Froch into a real marquee name in Britain, had him fighting on Crimetime instead of Sky as well but overall he did a good job.
I agree, he did well upon till he left ITV and be practically went into obscurity, his profile has sky rocketed since he went to Matchroom, well we should be saying Skysports really.... Skysports is the best promoter here!
But Forch still had a massive homecoming fight in Nottingham against Dirrell, but couldn't get arrested on TV. It was weird...
i think you have it the wrong way round i think froch made hannessy, froch left hennessy because he couldnt promote him enough and get him the exposure he needed
That's where you've got to ask the question had he been with another promoter i.e ******, would he have been on Skysports at that point?
