who could or can shake off a punch the best? lamotta who is hall of famer voted greatest chin but who else had remarkable recuperative powers?
Donovan Ruddock had great recuperative powers. He went down from hard shots against Mike Tyson and Bonecrusher Smith only to smile and get up moments later. The Tommy Morrison knockdown was ridiculous though. Gets hit with a flush left hook, goes down like he's dead, and then somehow gets up a few seconds later and almost sees out the round. He had no business getting up from that shot.
Evander Holyfield had legendary powers of recuperation. e.g: Bowe-Holy I: round 10. :admin Holy-Tyson I: round 5. Here is my description of that round: "5: 10-9 Tyson: Holy starts strong with sharp combinations, but Tyson fights back with atomic bombs, hurting him with a huge overhand right & soon after with a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the chin. Holy holds, the referee breaks them & Tyson hurts him again with a stomach-churning right hook to the body. Following this, Holy grapples him very tightly, then showing his incredible powers of recuperation, he comes back well in the second half."
Heavies- Joe Louis, Marciano, Dempsey. All four got off the canvas with a vengeance, roaring back with punches. Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Ray Leonard do a great job of defending intelligently when they're hurting.Hopkins, even though he's not the most durable, is pretty good at saving himself when he's in trouble as well.
Ali. Anyone who can take the beating Frazier gave him for 14 rounds, then get hammered flush by that crushing "smokin'" left hook, and just get right back up, has some serious stones. No one before or after took a Frazier left hook as perfect as that one and got up. He also showed great heart in getting up from the Cooper knockdown. His eyes rolled back in his head, but he mustered the wherewithal to get to his feet and walk to his corner. He clearly didn't know what was going on, evidenced by the fact that he tried to get up 10 seconds later and go somewhere. I've never heard anyone say where he thought he was going, or what he thought was happening. Maybe he didn't know the round was over. But the simple fact that he got up says something about his heart in the ring.
Another white guy mentioning Marciano and Dempsey, how tiresome. If they faced real opponents they would of been knocked out. Holyfield, Ali, Foreman, ect ect ect
I'm not white you ****. silly trolls. btw foreman's stamina and overall coming back to win a fight after getting in trouble ability is among the worst of all atg heavies
I think he might be saying that if Marciano and Dempsey fought real opposition in the lines of - Holyfield, Ali, Foreman, ect ect ect they'd of been ko'd? And I'm voting Ali as well on this becasue of FOTC getting up after 4 sec, that punch was incredible, I'l have a think of some non legendaries that have great re-coup. powers lol.
