Yeah, Bayless, Weeks and Smoger are all great refs. Seriously, Was Richard Steele in Don Kings pocket or what?... Some of his stoppages were un-F___ing-believable!
Some would argue that his stoppage in the Taylor-Chavez bout was perfectly normal... I really don't know :think
I agree with many people here that Bayless is good, but I went with Smoger. He's not a drama queen unlike alot of the guys, and also for the obvious reasons as well.
I've discussed this in an older thread... I see the point. I just felt bad about the guy (Taylor) giving his all and fighting his heart out, just to be 2 seconds short of the championship... He deserved to be the champion that night.
No worries mate. Maybe Victor Ortiz took a swing at ya? :blood Care to say the "obvious" reasons for Smoger's superiority?
I felt bad too but it happens in boxing and clearly it was a fair stoppage. Why would you let the fight continue when he clearly wasnt all there when Steel asked him if he was ok? Also just let it continue just because their was two seconds left and you should let him win. That aint fair to Chavez.
No it was a horrible stoppage and Taylor was just looking at his cornerman Duva who had just gotten up. It's probably the worst stoppage in boxing history.
True dat. The ****ing corner got Taylor's attention when Steele was asking him  Damn you Lou Duva!
Sure, yeah Smoger's professionalism and relaxed approach when it comes to allowing a fight to continue despite superficial indications of danger is what makes him one of the best for the majority of observers, IMO. Too many referee's try to act like ringside doctors. Smoger is a referee, purely.
Smoger, Bayless, and Weeks are clearly the three best. The poll would work better without them. The most underrated is Kelly. You never know he is there...and that is the best compliment I could give a ref.
