Usyk doesnt have controversial wins like Lara, Trout and GGG

The "depth" of Canelos resume is overrated too and Usyks best wins he beat them all at their best most comfortable weight

Don't believe Ring magazine's propaganda. Usyk is the clear number 1.

Is Usyk unifying Cruiser really that better then Crawford unifying Super Lightweight?

Canelo's resume is a real interesting one to look at, and IMO a lot of his resume comes down to those two fights with GGG - regardless of what one thinks of win/lose or draw, those were the 2 fights where I was sold on the fact that Canelo IS Elite.

    Just some observations
    • Lost to elite (but post-prime) Mayweather, but learned the hard way about deck-stacking and not being on the diva A-side; Canelo was obviously drained and also obviously still a bit green at the real top level
    • Won a controversial decision against arguably elite Lara - so many opinions on that fight and whether or not Lara even is elite or not
    • Beat a shadow-of-prime Cotto - but still a fine win
    • Good wins againtst Jacobs, Mundo Smith and Saunders - but are any of these guys elite / HOF bound?
    • A "draw" and a "win" against GGG
      • On the one hand a lot of GGG detractors say GGG only fought bums, but that devalues Canelo's resume
      • On the other, if GGG is/was truly elite level (IMO he is) then one has to give Canelo credit as he was clearly competetive at that level and gave GGG 2 of his hardest fights (only really Sergey aside from Canelo was close to GGG)
      • Even though I had GGG winning both fights, Canelo showed me more than enough in both fights to prove he is top drawer - I also think both fights showed enough to silence the "GGG only fought bums and is not all that" crowd as well
        • Whilst I wanted a 3rd, not entirely sure that either Canelo or GGG really fancied it and both had easier fights after IMO

My biggest gripe with Canelo's resume aside from the debated GGG decisions is the fact that he vacated the 160 belt he won off Cotto rather than fight a truly prime GGG - and this isn't as much me moaning because "wahh GGG would have won" I think it's more that it deprived all us fans of what could have been a TRULY great trilogy :-
    • Canelo GGG I - MAY 2016 - GGG answers his critics in great fashion with UD win over the 'heir apparent'
    • Canelo GGG II - MAY 2017 - Canelo shows that he learns more from defeats and makes multiple adjustments to force a draw that many think GGG deserved, but a truly competetive and close bout
    • Canelo GGG III - MAY 2018 - well who knows?
After the two titanic encounters we had it was clear that Canelo was continuing to improve, and GGG was starting to decline, so Canelo would rightfully have been the favourite for the 3rd - but because of that wait where Oscar forced Canelo to wait GGG out (I don't believe Canelo is afraid or a ducker tbh), the 3rd was going to be a hard sell - Canelo had 'won' the rematch, and was moving up to 168lb because he had outgrown 160 (a bit rich given he vacated the 160 strap after Cotto because he wasn't a natural 160lber :risas3: ) .

As an aside, this also probably indirectly destroyed the career of Kell Brook, as if Canelo hadn't vacated, then GGG wouldn't have been over in the UK making Eubank Jr **** his pants and BJS to be as quiet as he'd ever been.

But Canelo has a deep and solid resume with a fair few question marks on it.

I think even with only 19 fights Usyk still has THE resume to beat, but Canelo is probably closest - though Chocolatito is not too far off to be honest

Well, you just need to look at who Crawford beat to unify there vs who Usyk beat to unify Cruiser. Maybe my sarcasm detector is awry here but that's fairly laughable

Postol was easily his best win @140, and he made undisputed againnst Indongo won of the weakest titlists in recent years, if not ever! Just as an aside Regis Prograis - who lost to Josh Taylor that emulated Crawford's feat - sparked Indongo in round 2 not long after Crawford.

As much as I like Postol I'm not sure he is better than ANY of the guys Usyk defeated whilst clearing out Cruiser - certainly not Breidis or Gassiev

Usyk is better than Alvarez not least because he hasn't benefitted from countless dodgy decisions, contractual clauses and home advantage.

Postol was considered the **** until he got beaten by Crawford.

The guys Usyk beat at Cruiser nobody would have paid attention to if it wasn’t for the unification tournament.

Belew is a decent win but at the end of his career.

The Chisora win only proved Usyk could hang with the Top 10 Heavyweights at that point. If Fury, Wilder, Joshua would fight Chisora at that point in time they would get no credit.

Joshua has looked bad his last 4 fights. Stopped by Ruiz. Merely outboxed Ruiz in the rematch but Ruiz lost that one as much as Joshua won it. I never rated Pulev. And this last fight Joshua wasn’t switched on. Joshua always looked beatable and proved that again.

This is European side boxing where Canelo loses every poll in history. But if you ask any casual fan if theyve ever heard of Gassiev, Bredis, Glowacki, Huck, Chisora, people are going to look at you with a weird look, like WHO? Canelo has the best resume in all of boxing right now.
