So, I've noticed that nowadays it seems that having two or three names on a resume consisting of 40+ fights is considered good. This doesn't seem at all in sync with reality but it could just be that I'm not as up on my boxing history as I should be.

In case you're wondering about what may be considered a weird date as opposed to going with the usual "modern era", it's because I KNOW all the really old school fighters had tons of fights and ridiculous resumes. I'm looking for at least a some what fair comparison to active fighters, so I think post 1960 works well for that.

    Ali.
Hagler fought nice mix I always thought.
    Holyfield obviously.
Duran faced a lot of dudes.
DLH faced most of the recent greats, on a different scale.

    JAMES TONEY!

Would you mind posting names, or what made them great? That's really what I'm trying to get to the bottom of here.

Carlos Ortiz beat 6(count em) HOF'ers in his career from 135-140.

Duilio Loi, Joe Brown, Flash Elorde, Sugar Ramos, Ismael Laguna, Niclolino Locche, Mando Ramos, Battling Torres, and Kenny Lane(one of the last three was, though which one slips me at the moment). Excellent resume. In an eleven fight streak he fought:

    Flash Elorde
    Ismael Laguna (x3)
    Nicolino Locche
    Sugar Ramos (x2)
    Kenny Lane

Emile Griffith had one of the deepest resumes of all time, starting at WW and up to MW. Top 10 of all time in both classes arguably, top 5 at WW.

    Denny Moyer X2
    Jorge Jose Fernandez X3
    Florentino Fernandez
Luis Manuel Rodriguez X3(top 35-40 ATG in my opinion)
    Benny Paret X2
    Yama Bahama
    Gaspar Ortega
    Ralph Dupas X2
    Don Fullmer
    Holly Mims
    Jose Monon Gonzalez
    Dave Charnley
    Dick Tiger X2
    Joey Archer X2
    Nino Benvenuti
    Gypsy Joe Harris
    Tom Bogs
    Armando Muniz
    Ernie Lopez X2
    Joe DeNucci X2
    Bennie Briscoe

Some even argue he beat Monzon in their rematch, though not myself personally. Fantasic, stacked resume. No recent fighter comes close.
