Has there ever been a better run in boxing than tysons between 1986 to 1988.

Unbelievable when you look back at it. Think their was something like 17 days before fighting james tillis and mitch green. 20 fights in total took out tubbs in 2 rounds. Larry holmes in 4 rounds. Marvis frazier in one round. Spinks in one. Berbick in 3. Beat pinklon thomas, bonecrusher smith, jessie ferguson, tony tucker, tyrell biggs. Destroyed pretty much the whole division in less than 2 years at 20 years of age.

The sheer speed of it alone...is incredible when you think about it. Not only was he knocking most of them out brutally he was doing it in double quick time. Cant think of a more impressive run in a short space of time. These guys we,re respectable guys as well.

Beating them names at 19/20 years of age is one thing but doing it at the speed he did was incredible.

No doubt impressive but nowhere near as crazy of a run as Sugar Ray Robinson had after his first loss to Lamotta. 88 fights in a row without a loss from 43 to 51 beating Lamotta( multiple times) Henry Armstrong, Kid Gavilan, Bobo Olson etc. Before finally losing to Randy Turpin. 88 wins between 43' and 51'. That is not only crazy active but dominant. Most fighters don't even have half as many fights in a whole career let alone go undefeated over 88 fights. Crazy names on his record during that time span.

Think we,re looking at the modern era really. My knowledge doesnt quite go as far back as greb or even sugar ray robinson. Maybe something i need to look more into...severe lack of decent footage to be found tho compared to the modern era anyway. Tbf incredible stats for both.

45-0, beat 5 hall of famers a total of 10 times in 21 different cities. He beat top heavy Bill Brennan 4 times, almost KO'ing him twice. Beat Lightheavy champ Levinsky. Also beat Miske and Willie Meehan, a guy Dempsey never bested. Threw out challenges to Dempsey and Willard and agreed to meet Wills in a gym or stadium just to prove who was better.

Between 1979 and 1981 Ray Leonard s opponents had a combined record of 310 wins compared to 7 total losses.
Even Leonard's 2nd rate opponents were better than some great fighters 1st rate opponents.
With 3 of those fighters he defeated at the least were top 10 in history at their best weight division.
