My bad dog is that like asking who's the best Brooklyn fighter when your from Harlem? Harlem and Brooklyn don't mix man, not at all.
Jessie James, IMO. It's hard to say what would have happened with Ayala. He certainly seemed to have a lot of promise, but he didn't have much in the way of wins over big names before he went to jail. You should have left that last option off, brother.
Probably should have had Mike Ayala instead of Tony. He came within a hair of beating Danny "Little Red" Lopez.
Not really we don't have a beef with SA they know thier place in the Texas food chain. The only time we have a problem is when we're talking basketball...damn Spurs.
I know man people wanna be funny and pick it, i just put that incase people didnt know any of these, but itz winning :huh
This was a good idea for a thread. I hadn't really given much thought to boxers from San Antonio, but I learned a bit from the posts here. :good
Thanks MAn :good , thats why i posted it u know cause u hear alot about other big boxing cities and san antonio is usually left out, in my opinion san antonio is a underrated boxing town
I met Quiroga and Leija. . . both seem like nice guys. I saw Ayala at a bar a couple times but didnt really want to meet him for fear of being fondled. My vote goes to Quiroga.
tony was probably the one with the most natural talent. he was really brutal and would sometimes spit on opponents after he knocked them out. my former inlaw was compadres with mike so i followed many of their fights. i used to hang out with flaco(john michael johnson) when we were in high school and i remember being amazed at how hard this skinny kid barely over 100lb could hit. i think flaco could have gone a lot further if it were not for some bad decisions he made outside the ring. pikin was probably the one with the biggest heart and was dead game. never met him personally but i loved to watch him fight. the smartest of the lot was probably james who accomplished the most, with what he had, inside and outside the ring. im hoping raul will surpass all these other guys for the good of sa boxing. oh, i also live across the street from gabriel elizondo( a good boxer from sa, in case youve never heard of him)
thats tight living across the street from Gabriel Elizondo, he has a future in boxing I thought he couldve got the nod against Navarro and was there when he fought Mendoza he's pretty good, but ya i put my vote for raul surpassing all of the others i think he has way to much talent not to be a champion. About year ago i remember them trying to set up a fight between Elizondo and Martinez, if im right Elizondo is a little bigger then Raul, but would still pick Martinez to win
Yeah i've met Leija, he's a very nice person, he was at a HEB down on the southside signing autographs
