I didn't like "Play it to the bone" as a whole. But I did like the scene in the diner when they both ordered waffles. I thought that was funny.
when braddock was announced as the winner in the baer fight. rocky movies would get my vote but its a fictional movie
it wasnt a straight up boxing film was it,the boxing took a back seat midway through the film,i thought it was decent.
"Rocky" was influenced by Ali fighting Chuck Wepner. It is fictional, but based on reality. "Cinderella man" is one of my favorites, but the way they portrayed Max Baer is as fictional as Rocky.
As I understand the Baer story its quite sad. He becomes a playboy and puts on a show of charisma after he kills (can't remember the guys name right now) in the ring, meanwhile he's actually battling depression from killing him (i wish I could remember the guys name). Can anyone fill me in on the story details, and if these details that I have now are correct.
The fighter was Frankie Campbell. I hadn't heard about the depression, but I'll look into it. By all accounts though, Baer certainy wasn't the type of guy the movie made him out to be.
That was indeed very uplifting.. The words Ali said to Foreman and the music the fight had behind it..:thumbsup
in rocky 3 when rocky and apollo are embracing in the sea after their sprint on the beach, the training is over and rocky is ready for clubber , rocky and apollo are best of mates after all they have been through in the past, brilliant!!!
