Lacy an undefeated champion - at the time had done more than Dirrell and Pascal had when fighting Froch.

Jones past his best, but Joe is only 3 years younger than him and the fight was in the US.

Dirrell had only had about 17 fights when he fought in Froch's backyard - he grew up that night. Jones had been there and done it!

Well, your opinion is well established now... got the bias out of the way.

    I pick froch.

    I'm a Calzaghe nuthugger....

I just want people to think about properly and give their own opinion. I can accept anyone's opinion as long as it's rationale.

As much as I don't like Joe...Prime vs Prime in a fight, Calzaghe takes Froch to the cleaners...

I actually hope this comparison will generate some interesting and sensible debate. There are pros and cons for both fighters.

Look at the fight sequences and make a well-informed decision on whose is more accomplished.

Froch's recent resume easily beats the best of Calzaghe's, but Joe would have schooled him in a head to head. That low left hand and face-first defence would have been punished all night long.

Props to Froch though, anyone who's faced the fighters he has, deserves all the recognition they can get. Even more amazing that he's beaten 4 of them with the only loss being close-run.

Calzaghe. He unified and climbed weight successfully in that sequence. Also, beat the fresher version of Kessler convincingly, something Froch never did.

You aren't very bright then, thats a terrible analysis. Lacy never beat anyone good in his entire career, sweeping phrases like undefeated champion don't tell us squat about how good he actually was.

Jones was shot, and Calzaghe was arguably as good as he ever was at the time, Calzaghe really only improved as he got older, probably hitting his peak around 2006. By acknowledging that age is the factor you use for evaluating a fighters peak it just takes any credibility you might have had away.

Your full of ****. Every man and his dog thaught Lacy was going to school Calzaghe after the Robin Reid shut out. You probably thaught this yourself. Calzaghe was the one who destroyed Lacy as a fighter.

He would beat Froch and any of the current SMWs prime for prime.

Lacy had beat Manfredo, Sheika, R Williams, Pemberton, Tsypko, Vanderpool and Reid. Thats not a terrible resume. What active American SMW currently has a better overall resume than Lacy?
Lacy was a full SMW and expected to beat Calzaghe
Bika when Calzaghe fought him was arguably a more seasoned fighter than Pascal when Froch beat him though admit Pascal has gone on to do well, but that was after the Froch fight.
Manfredo was a poor fight, made to get American interest, but Manfredo was a Ring top 10 rated SMW
Hopkins away was Ring LHW champ, P4P #3 and it was a weight Joe hadnt fought before.
I dont think Jones was as shot as many make out. On the S Bunce boxing show 60% on a poll predicted Jones to win as did many pros like Hopkins, Froch, Haye etc. Jones had only lost to LHW champ Tarver and LHW champ Johnson who both went on to be Ring champ, so were the then 2 top men. Jones wasnt settled back at the weight then, but was back as a strong LHW when Calzaghe fought him and had 3 wins in a row over Adjamu, undefeated Hanshaw, and Tito (who was really a tune up)

Froch beat AA in good style but AA was a former MW with no big name wins and no real SMW resume. Who do you think AA beat that was so much better than who Lacy beat?

    Exactly

I'm a calzaghe hater, but i'm only like that as a reaction to the overblown praise he gets.

He had a great career, but it wasn't half as impressive as people make it out to be.
