Good question, it´s close between Floyd and Arguello in my opinion.....I will explain later why....

Floyd. His wins stack up against anyone elses at the weight imo, plus the level of performance he put in against the elite of the division was amazing. I don't think he's ever been as good as he was back then.

Someone needs to put a fantasy "Tournament" together just between all the "opponents".

SFW is an overlooked talented division.

I think Floyd should walk this one, the quality of his opposition at SFW is outstanding and so is the way he beat them.

    Exactly my opinion.....
    the way he beat them.....
His performance against Genaro Hernandez (very good fighter) is amazing !!!
The way he beat a very good fighter is his prime like Corrales was beautiful....
    Manfredy was a fine fighter.....
Carlos Hernandez was good enough too, it´s a very solid resume.....awesome performances !

I vote Arguello. 8 KOs in 9 fights, plus his opposition was strong overall, some real good fighters in there. 2nd Chavez, 3rd Mayweather, 4th Nelson, even though I think Nelson TKO8 Fenech is the best single win listed there.

    Arguello has the most depth.

Floyd has the worst resume of the 4, clearly and distinctly for mine.

    Agree sweet.

Definitely the least talented crop of fighters bested of the four and subsequently also the most dominant.

    Arguello
    Chavez
    Mayweather/Nelson

Nelson's inconsistency could put him last depending on if you like a mixture ofbig performances and "just enough" efforts, or consistency.I've never been a Corrales fan and think Hernandez was on the way out so i'd be reluctant to drop him below Floyd.

Don´t you think Corrales was at least as good as Escalera ?

Arguello; have to give it to him over Chavez because of general depth but also because the Castillo Alexis fought far outstripped the Castillo Chavez fought. Chavez also barely got by Laporte.

The names on Mayweather's 130-pound resume just aren't as great.

    Arguello.

Chacon, Limon and Navarrete were all future champions in the division, and he took out another in a non-title bout in Boza Edwards. Overall, he knocked out five divisional champions six times (Escalera 2X). Chacon is in Canastota, and Alexis believed strongly that Escalera also deserves to be in the IBHOF. Ruben Castillo was 46-0-0, and one of the foremost contenders of his era never to win a title. Alexis is the only one on this list to win over the championship distance, and the only one to produce stoppages in the championship rounds. (Admittedly not the fault of the other guys that they never even had a chance to prove themselves over the championship distance.) Limon, Navarrete, Tam and Boza Edwards were all southpaws. This is where Arguello wrote the book on how to deal with southpaws from the orthodox stance.

Not a big advocate of Escalera either Vic.I'd put him a notch or two above Chico though.

Not totally hopeless on Defence, less predictable and tough as nails.

When he neglected his jab and range(which was most of the time)Chico had little to really offer but power and quality textbook punches if his opponent was flat footed and unskilled enough to let him unload.

Slow as treacle, little boxing skills or ring-generalship, soft chin(especially at 130), ridiculously easy to hit.

he was always a B level fighter even at the height of his P4P claims, plus as a pure puncher hardly made me forget other limited dangerous guys like Israel COntrerars, Antonio Avelar,Don Lee,pavlik,Colin Jones, in-Chul Baek etc

That's the level he was at imo, probably towards the middle or bottom of the pack.

escalara had better punch variety, feinting and head movement than corrales, i think. Diego was way to tall for his style, a bit of a better schooled paul williams mistake.
