I've got to go with Holmes-Norton, Round 15.

These guys have gone at it for 14 and are close to dead even. They've taken a lot out of each other.

Each has so much champion in his heart that he is willing to go toe-to-toe, punch-for-punch, in the final 3 minutes to the final bell.

It is everything that is great about boxing by two high-caliber guys.

Norton was getting toward his end, but after this he had nothing left to give. For Holmes, it was a launching point to a great reign.

So what's your top heavyweight championship round (leaving out non-title bouts among contenders or non-contenders)?

I agree - I watch this round probably once or twice a week just to get a fix. Amazing round.

Great rounds mentioned. I would also mention the 1st round from Frazier-Quarry I and the 1st round from Patterson-Johannson III.

Ali-Spinks 1 - Round 15 was the round of the year in 1978 (a few months before Norton-Holmes).

Arguably the top two 15th rounds in heavyweight history took place within a couple months of each other.

Round 11 of the Larry Holmes-Mike Weaver fight is pretty great, too.

Here's a link. Begins at the 44 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQiwq63vFQY

At one point, Don Dunphy says, "I wonder if either of them will be any good after this." (Because they'd dished out so much punishment.)

Holmes/Norton 15 the best one I remember. Ali/Spinks 15 great too, as Ali knew he was behind and tried like hell to take Spinks out, and Spinks kept punching, not sitting on his lead.

One of the reasons why i always will respect Evander Holyfield. Granite Chin, Heart of a warrior and unmatched Will even though he never had the gift of a one punch Ko. Always punched above his weight and never gave up.
