    Yes he was....Young was better than Byrd...and shame on you for not knowing that.

    Well you started off erroneously calling Byrd "chinless" so your credibility took a hit right there.
    No he wasn't the better fighter. His wins are overrated. Lyle was just a journeyman nothing more, Byrd would have outpointed him. Ali put up the 2nd worst performance of his career in probably the worst fight of all time. Young did nothing impressive in that fight. He barely threw punches and turned his back on the ropes several times. Chris would have decisively beaten that version of Ali. Foreman at that point was Out of shape and mentally shot being on the verge of retirement. Byrd would have outpointed that George Foreman. What's so special about Norton? What did he do besides give an out of shape past prime Ali problems? This nostalgic yearning for the "golden era" isn't quite all rooted in reality.
    For my money I'd say Byrd had the superior defense and movement. Young was not better than him.
