in no particular order ill shoot some off the top of my head:

Ward, Frock, Toney, RJJ, Calzaghe, Benn, Kessler, Otke

  4. Dr. Larry

    Dr. Larry Guest

Ottke is not one of the best. Otherwise, the Hitman is right, except he forgot about Eubank and he spelled Froch's name wrong. And he also forgot Andre Dirrell.

yup I only put down who I could think off at the time. As far as Ottke goes he ranks right up there with the rest of them IMO.

I base these things on resume and when it comes to resume, this is it

    1. Calzaghe - winner of 22 SMW title fights, won WBO WBC WBA IBF titles, beat undefeated WBA/WBC champ
    This content is protected
    , undefeated IBF champ
    This content is protected
, undefeated future WBO int champ
    This content is protected
    This content is protected
, former champ and top SMW
    This content is protected
, and other SMW champs who were still world rated in
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
who years later looked to have beaten Ottke,
    This content is protected
who was a 2 time SMW champ who looked unlucky to many against Ottke only losing a debateable SD and never beaten clearly by any other SMW. Add other top 10 SMWs on top of these SMW world champs in Sheika, Starie, Manfredo, Mkertchyan, Bika and you get the top SMW of all time.

    2. Eubank - winner of 13 SMW title fights and 2 draws, won the WBO SMW title but also drew with the WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
, and beat the undefeated relinquished IBF SMW champ Rocchigiani, add in
    This content is protected
who after losing to Eubank twice became WBC SMW champ, former champ
    This content is protected
then all of the other top 10 SMWs,

. Out of Eubanks 18 WBO SMW title fights 14 of those fights were against fighters who were, had been or became top 10 SMWs. One was a unification and another was against the undefeated former IBF SMW champ (relinquished his title). In fact 6 of the fighters he faced had been or became world champs, then consider that 2 of Eubanks SMW title defeats were to the same fighter where the first was a debateable decision and the second a SD and you have the number 2 SMW.

    3. Ottke - winner of 22 SMW title fights, won WBA & IBF SMW titles, won a world title in only his 13th fight, beat IBF champ

, and fighters that went on to win titles or were former champs in other divisions to go with Branco in
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
, and that to me is the number 3 SMW.
Kessler possibly deserves to be above Ward SMW resume wise, as at SMW he has beaten undefeated WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
    , WBA SMW champ
    This content is protected
    , 3 time WBC champ
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
who became a WBA SMW champ after Kessler beat him, undefeated future WBA regular champ
    This content is protected
    , former WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
, former WBC SMW champ Thobela as well as top 10 SMW in undefeated
    This content is protected
, and Kessler deserves a place.

Now it becomes difficult as you have a SMW like Collins who only made around 7 defences but
    This content is protected
    beat
    This content is protected
, first time the undefeated fighter of 17 world title fights and 2 weight world champ and Collins also
    This content is protected
    beat 2 weight world champ
    This content is protected
    . Both massive wins.
You also have Benn who beat the WBC champ in
    This content is protected
, drew with long running WBO champ
    This content is protected
    , future WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
    , future WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
, and top 10 SMWs in
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
    and then there was the
    This content is protected
    win.
Kessler possibly deserves to be above Ward SMW resume wise, as at SMW he has beaten undefeated WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
    , WBA SMW champ
    This content is protected
    , 3 time WBC champ
    This content is protected
    ,
    This content is protected
who became a WBA SMW champ after Kessler beat him, undefeated future WBA regular champ
    This content is protected
    , former WBC SMW champ
    This content is protected
, former WBC SMW champ Thobela as well as top 10 SMW in undefeated
    This content is protected
, and Kessler deserves a place.

Its very difficult to make a decision from 4 onwards but
    1. Calzaghe
    2. Eubank
    3. Ottke

4-10 will be a mix of Benn, Collins, Kessler, in the later top side of the top 10, there would be Ward, Woodhall, Mitchell, Reid maybe Froch, Beyer
