If Hagler isn't allowed, it must be any of Pea, Pac & Saldivar. Guys like Calzaghe, Jiro, Elorde etc, are all good choices, but clearly worse than those three guys.

Hagler, Pacquiao, Whitaker and Saldivar are the four best Southpaws ever for me.

    Why would they?

    Not as the greatest ever.

As a great southpaw, not as THE greatest.

    That’s ridiculous.

He beat everyone who was around at SMW and to top it off, moved up to light heavyweight and beat Hopkins who was not at all washed

Maurice Hope was fairly good !
Karl Mildenberger was a good HW
Neville Cole was a really good armature in the UK
Got to say, not many SP that are easy on the eye, just doesn't flow like conventional orthodox fighters, saying that, didn't they turn Basilio round ?

How does that qualify him to be the greatest southpaw?

Yes, he was a great fighter. But he was flawed technically. He was very scrappy at times, where he concentrated more on volume rather than accuracy. He didn’t have skills like Pea. He was often untidy and easy to hit.

    His resume was also poor.

Most of his resume consisted of WBO title defences against low level opposition.

He was not easy to hit, he could box when he chose to and when he was scrappy, it always worked, skills isn't about flashy combinations or slick defense and shoulder rolls, skills is about knowing what to do at what point of the fight and knowing what to do against the right opponent
