Best southpaw jab: Marvin Hagler, Pernell Whitaker, or Winky Wright?

Whitaker. Not only was it technically very good, but it was accurate, diverse, fast, and active. He setup much of his offense with it. Hagler's was more powerful, but he didn't need it as much as Whitaker because he could fend guys off with other tools. Wright's jab seemed a little more predictable than Whitaker's, though it was great, too.

 

Whitaker, and all things considered, it's more competitive than close imo. If you ask yourself, who used it to not only control fights, but dominate fights with it; and doing so against the highest caliber of competition, the obvious answer is, Whitaker. It's hard for me to envision how the other men have an overall better jab than Whitaker, just not seeing it.

 

Wright vs Trinidad is a great example of a boxer almost single winning a fight based purely on the jab.

Both Hagler and Whitakker had greater volume and quality facets to their game, aside from their jabs, than Wright, though.

 

Hagler threw his jab like a cross - it was a hurtful punch.
