Pernell is the best defensive southpaw ever, but he is not the best offensive fighter. Pac probably is the best offensive fighter.

It has to be differentiated because boxing is composed of both defense and offense. Just like Mayweather must be at the top or near the top in terms of defense, but he is not offensive fighter. Duran is both a defense and offensive wizard and so rightfully, he belongs high in ATG ranking.

And then there's the oh-so-meaningless fact that Hagler was a middleweight and Pacquiao spent most of his career below 140, and still weighs less than 150 on fight night nowadays.

It's a close one between Hagler and Whitaker for me, but Lew Tendler was also one that HAS to be mentioned. ATG southpaw. I choose Hagler, but if Pac can beat Floyd I might put him ahead of the Pea. Maybe.

No, Hagler is not EASILY the greatest lefty ever.

It's very debatable on whether or not he should be above Whitaker.

Hagler stunk and could not box a lick......SRL handed him his ass. Plodding fvcker....

There is really is no such thing as a good southpaw. They are goofy awkward fvcks, but none are actually good.

:patsch Hagler was past his prime and many to this day still think he beat Leonard. Watch his fights from the 70's and even tho he struggled with Duran he got the better of Duran in the last rounds of their fight. In his prime, Hagler had a punishing southpaw jab and good movement around the ring. He was a very good boxer.
