For most southpaws its usually about the usual 1-2 the jab and straight left but what southpaw that you have seen throws the best right hook? Currently in active fighters for me it has to be Juan Manuel Lopez or Pacquiao. Any other suggestions? Reason being for choosing these fighters is because they set the punch up so well. Mostly Lopez though counters very naturally and with A LOT of thud with his right hook.. For me thats his money punch maybe more so than his straight left which is also strong atleast sofar that I've seen..
Toshiaki Nishioka uses his right hand incredibly well, both as a jab and a hook (especially to the body).
There are a couple of southpaw prospects whose right hooks have impressed me, but the names escape me at the moment. Of established champions, my picks are Nishioka and Martinez. :nod
damn... I remember seeing that Andy Lee right hook knockout... perfectly setup... had Daniels occupied with that quick whipping loose jab and then feint and BAM right hook so quick once he saw a slight reaction from Daniels.. perfectly done
if lee can start doin that to decent ranked guys then hes onto a winner ****in seems to have lost his mojo since the vera fight but slowly gettin it back if he lays a couple of them lightnin right hooks on duddy then its timber
I'd definitely say Martinez and Pac off the top of my head. Although martinez is off balance I love to do his hook while floating over to the right. Straight left, right hook while floating over...Thing of beauty that not many people can avoid.
Michael Moorer could pull out a solid right hook in combinations when he had to.. But was more apt to doing so when he was a light heavyweight.. He was a devestating banger when he was at 175lbs..
