I recently moved and FINALLY have space to put boxing equipment, which is something I've wanted for a long time. I've had my eye on a heavybag speedbag combo by everlast that I've seen at a few stores for a little over 100 bucks. However, I've started to do research and realized that it might not be that good. People say the speedbag part of it is loose no matter what you do, and that you have to buy freeweights to help stabalize it "if you have any punching power at all." I'm not Mike Tyson, but I'm guessing I would have this problem, meaning I would have to buy freeweights because I don't have those either. That's probably another 40 dollars or so. To shorten this up my questions are What are the best combo sets for these, is there a better brand then Everlast. Should I get each one seperetly. I am renting, so that's a problem with putting a whole bunch of holes and such in the walls. I've also considered a freestanding bag, but I already have a heavybag that's just sitting there wasting space now until I hang it up. I do what both a speedbag and a heavybag, though. Thanks for any help.
I'm guessing from your post you either are not near a decent boxing gym or do not wish to go to one. If you can your much better off paying your dues and going to a gym where all the equipment and trainer/s will be available. If you can't go drilling holes then a sturdy bag stand is a must. Decent quality may cost you as many are made with thin speedball boards which aren't much good. Jim Bradley make decent stuff, I have one of the speedball set ups which is mounted onto a brick wall. Thick board and excellent quality materials. Pictured below is a 3 in 1 but you would need some space for it. Also bear in mind when using a heavy bag you will need weight plates to stop your stand from moving regardless of the brand. This content is protected
Thank you. Yes, I'm in rural, VA, The closest Gym to move is over two hours away. I am just getting into the sport a little big, and a few years ago when I had my heavybag up I was amazed at how easily the weight was coming off. I am hoping to do that again. Thanks again.
Ok if it's just a workout for weight loss and some cardio you could go one of these things, can't comment on how good they are but you won't have to drill holes anywhere, This content is protected
