I think he did that because he genuinely hated Wilder at that point for not admitting defeat and accusing him of all kinds of whack things. Yes, Fury was out of shape but I don't see how that relates to the staredown, which was awesome.
Hearns & Tyson had the scariest stare downs with their opponents. Honestly, I think Hearns kept the same facial expression his entire career. Tyson's entire entrance at times was a part of mental warfare. I can't remember which fight it was but while everyone else come out to songs that motivate the match up..... Mike Tyson came out to sound effects, dark wind blowing sounds, someone crying in the background. No robe, just a towel cut, hanging over his shoulders. Get in the ring, no bouncing around to keep lose, just pacing and keeping his eye on his opponent during the ring announcement.
