Not only that, but the differences in culture, personality and style between the two men made the fight even more intriging and suspenseful.
Carmen Basilio Versus Tony DeMarco. If they fought 100 times, it would be hard fought, fight of the year type brawl every single time.
No other match-up can outweight Louis vs. Schmeling II. It had the biggest impact overall - not just boxing but politics worldwide. Best fight actually, I would vote for Ali vs. Frazier III.
gatti- ward trilogy, not tecnical god, fight were you can enjoy every tactical move and wonderfull BOXING MATCH....BUT to lions fighting with everything, and then a litle bit more!! IMO the trilogy is one of the best.the 3 fights could go either way,all 3 times...
AND of couse FRAZER-ALI. Frazer was incredeble that night,he took everything ali hit him with, and still come foreward. (one of my favorit fights).ali talking tha kind of beatin ,was incredible..none one them wouldt loose that one.....they fought their lives. i wonder if tyson have loooked at razers style:the in bobin weavin, and then the terrible left hook, when i watch tysons fighting style,it reminds me of joe frazier.HOW GOOD WAS FRAZIER iyo??
Gatti - Ward were not superfights though. Really how could you place their fights up in the pantheon with greatness like Louis-Schmeling, Hagler - Hearns, Ali-Frazier, Foreman - Ali, and etc.?
Ali/Foreman is up there. Foreman destroyed FOC winner Frazier and then destroyed Norton, the man who broke Ali's jaw and beat recently. Going into that fight it was close to a mismatch on paper. Then Foreman lands incredible leather for most of the fight on Ali but can't stop him, only to have the tables turned to be KO'd suddenly in round 8. Great setting, great fight. Leonard Hearns #1 was pretty fantastic too.
Nah, DLH vs. Mayweather... LOL!!:rofl Seriously, Louis vs. Schemeling I and II because of its political significance and Ali vs. Foreman because it was such a paper mismatch that had the most unexpected result.
