I wouldn't say hes overated but he did shoot himself in the foot switch hitting in the Leonard fight. I guess that can be ignored to some degree because that wasn't a prime Hagler but still.
hamed witter johnny nelson ryan rhodes herol graham basically anyone to come out of the brendon ingle gym in sheffield. they all did/do it to varying degrees. no one teaches it better than the ingles.
I used to switch hit a bit, but turning southpaw really made me vulnerable. When my opponent got past the jab, I didn't have a straight left to throw down the pipe to keep him off, its fecking difficult to switch for this very reason, your right jab is your only real defense. I used to have success when southpaw hooking off the jab, but my left hook is just as good as my right nowadays, and orthodox feels so much more natural. Dirrell can switch quite well.
Active fighters? The two Andres, Ward and Dirrell. And they're pretty good at it. I have to disagree with the people claiming Cotto is effective using this strategy. He can land some bombs when switching to southpaw, but he misses most of the time, he's not very accurate when fighting as a southpaw. Not what I would call 'very effective' as some said, anyway.
I liked Ward's switch hitting in the Kessler fight and I like Dirrell's switch hitting overall. Many people brought up Hagler and he did switch hit quite a bit in the first Antuofermo fight. I rewatched it this morning lol.
