if you think about it maybe this was the best thing that could have happened to ortiz.

    - he lost but he didnt take a long drawn out beating

-he can claim that he fought mayweather and never got beat legitimately.

-you have people running to his defense saying mayweather gave him a cheap shot even though he started the whole thing by a blatant headbutt,

    - if mayweather dosent give him a rematch, which he probably wont, he can say mayweather ducked him. what ya think?

I agree. Other than winning, this was the best possible outcome for him.

Now he's rich, has huge name value (everyone knows who he is now. I was at parties where people were showing fight replays on their phone to strangers), and can claim that he was beaten unfairly.

    No doubt.

He was going to lose - now he has an excuse and all people can talk about is Floyds sucker-punch or the headbutt. If the fight played out normally, everyone would be talking about what a mismatch it was.

This was a good outcome for Ortiz.

Yup pretty much sums it up Ortiz's sugar daddy (Floyd) made him a millionaire, that's why he was all smiles afterwards hugging/kissing and ****.....

I completely agree, this definitely turned out to be a surprisingly favorable outcome for Ortiz and Floyd haters.

Nah.. the best thing that could have happened to Ortiz is if he knocked out Mayweather in Round 1.

exactly. with this outcome, he is still marketable(probably even more then before) and can make millions in his next fight. If he didnt get stopped in the 4th, he would have lost by UD or KO and wouldn't be getting another 7 figure pay day any time soon.

He did win the sentiment of the fans. I think he knew he was not going to win, that is why he was so composed after the fight was over in the pst fight interview.

yeah, you'd think ortiz would be irate if he really thought he got cheated but he was as calm and collected. same can be said for the rest of his camp. but then again, as you said, you get 2.5 mill, its all good.

Absolutely. If Ortiz's jaw doesn't get absolutely shattered by Floyd's two-piece, he instead takes a sustained beating over the rest of the fight before he finally crumbles - or worse, lasts to the final bell and is a bloody ****ing mess.

Early round KO's can retire a fighter.
