early in the morning 5am run for an hour every morning or at least five miles... remember running is just for conditioning and half of the workout..

in the afternoon you'll have one or two hours of gym work doing boxing specifics stuff.. if you do both one after the other you'll be too tired to give 100%

and you work also on top of that.... you need the separation of the two workouts

I agree with the posts on here. I dont think it makes a difference running 10 km in the morning or 10 km at night. Still doing the 10 km aren't you?

It's more of a mental thing. I have done both and running in the morning does give you a great start to the day but I really enjoy running at night as well. Do whatever suits you.

Why do you run 5 miles or for an hour every day? Aren't you meant to be training for boxing, not running?

Morning. Floyd runs in the early hours and hasn't done him any harm.

Nah, he's training for fitness. Nowt wrong with running for that. I guess the training for boxing is done in the gym.

Boxing 2-3 minute rounds at fast pace requires different fitness to running at a steady pace for a long duration

    This.

5 miles or an hour run evey day is pointless, unless you're a runner of course, then it makes sense.

When running for an hour your running at a comortable pace and building your aerobic fitness which good if thats what your after.
When boxing for 2 minute rounds you have to work at a very higher pace and use more of your anaerobic fitness (after all when your throwing a 3 punch combination and the have to move away your not always going to have oxygen in your body).
Lets say you do sprints..... That helps you more because A) its Anaerobic and B) The rest you have in between helps your body used to getting your heart rate lower and recovering for a next round of sprints........ much like the 1 minute rest we have inbetween rounds no?

Oh I see. You're talking about specificity, right?

Which is why tennis players fitness regimes consist solely of high intensity for 10 s followed by a 30 second pause, for 3 hours. Oh, hang on a minute....

    Specificity, innit?

Train exactly like you compete is what you;re saying, no?
