Like I said, carry on wasting your time, following past methods with your daily distance runs :good

Or maybe you can give me an explanation as to why a boxer MUST run, in particular your daily 5 miles. Don't bother with the "well boxing champions run so I'm just going to do it to" like you keep repeating. Boxing champions train a hell of a lot, running is a very small part of their training.

The main reason boxers run, both past and present, is because anybody can do it any time anywhere. Also the fact, like yourself, you see professionals running and think you must follow. If you seen the guy doing a handstand trying to drink water would you try to do that to? I mean he's a champion boxer, it MUST help in some way right? Or does this only argument of "well chamions do it!" only count when it comes to you trying to justify your running? Your argument is stupid and proves nothing, unless you're saying a boxer is a champion purely because he runs.

the main reason for long distance running is for cutting weight, nothing more, nothing less

Any sort of distance running I do is fartlek 3 times a week. And by distance I mean 3 or 4 miles. Best effort for 30 seconds, jog for 30 seconds. This, along with marked out intervals I.e 50, 100, 200, 400m sprints on a field 3 times a week too. Does that sound ok virus or would you change it any? They're alternating days so I dont do both runs on one day.

I meant why running is so popular, not the reason why people run.

You might enjoy running but if you go out running for 30 minutes and your legs tire even slightly then your boxing workout will be harmed. I used to make the mistake of running after school before boxing every day and was never fresh in sparring.

That's just silly. If you have time to run you have time to shadowbox, jump rope, do circuits/complexes, punch the bag, do some strength training/plyometrics, hell, have a wank.

If you enjoy running, go for it, but just because you have time to do something doesn't mean you should do it.

if you have time to run then you have time to do boxing related training like shadowboxing, hitting the bag, jumping rope, situps, push ups, pull ups, slip line, slip bag, speed bag, double end bag, ect.

and if your done that and your arms are killing you but you still have some energy left in your legs, why not spend it doing some low intensity exercise like biking, jogging, swimming, or rowing to help burn up extra lactate acid built up from training, improve cardio, improve breathing under added stress, and increase leg endurance?

You serious? So after running i would probably go Boxing class
Your are telling me to do Shadowboxing and train bag etc. All day and never do anything different? Have a wank? You usually give better advice

i dont know what hes saying but im saying that you should go to boxing class and then go running...or biking, or swimming, or rowing.

even something like a 30 min walk would be useful just to burn off excess lactate acid built up during your time in class.

You said if you have time then run. I gave you a few other things that would actually help your boxing (apart from the wanking, I was being sarcastic).

My point was just because you have time to do something doesn't mean you should do it. This way of thinking can lead to over training and lower quality training when you actually want to box.
