Nelson done great with Burns and is doing well with Bakole, but apart from that it's been mostly David Brophy level type fighters taking losses.

He's a decent trainer but it's laughable to put him up there with Mcguigan.

P4P B.N has done better with a single fighter.
bringing Burns through the small halls and then on to do what he did with billy is incredible. There's not many on your list (if any id say Grant and tibbs) that would of done that with Burns

What are you judging this on? Top level fighters worked with? How they develop a fighter from debut? It's such a tough one.

If I had a young relative looking to turn pro I'd definitely look to Shane McGuigan before anybody else. Unsurpassed knowledge on the health and fitness side, brilliant tactical insight, and a genuine care for his fighters well being that in the case of Billiam-Smith is more like love. Just as a bitter side note, when it comes to social-networking and blagging your way into one highly pad job after another, Ben Davison is the absolute master.

I think Don Charles deserves to be in the top 10. Maybe 7 or 8. He trained Chisora for his win against Takam and in the Whyte 1, which I think should have been a draw or even a Chisora win. Charles has also done well with Dubois, helping him beat AJ.

What's the unsurpassed knowledge on health and fitness that Shane has that is surpassing other trainers?

There's been question marks over his care for his fighters too. Josh Taylor threw a lot out there with his reasons for leaving Shane as did Chan Cam.

He usually gives good tactical advice yes but even Shane's has his ups and downs. Off the top of my head CBS vs Mast.
First half of the fight they had no answer for Masternaks jab... Listen to the corner advice!

Overall Shane is one of our best trainers i definitely agree. But we have to take into account how we make these judgements, as @nurological has already pointed out.

Hes defo top 10 but he's no Futch.

Definitely mate. People won't agree because they the hate for Chisora/Joshua on here is crazy. But Don Charles is in the top 10 for sure.

I love Josh Taylor but he blatantly left because he was poached by MTK who were offering their services for zero management fees. The same reason other McGuigan fighters like Frampton, Cameron and Lee McGregor left for MTK. They’ll have gone from paying out 25% of their purse on management fees to 0% and probably got a bonus on top for helping MTK launder money.

He's done excellent with Dubois (alongside Kieron Farrell), and has done well with Chisora. But there's a long list of fighters, many heavyweights.. who failed to get to any respectable level with Charles, such as his son George Fox.. who Charles claimed was the future star of the division:risas3:, when I saw Fox he was honestly one of the worst fighters I've ever seen, no power whatsoever for a heavyweight.

Is that really his fault though? A trainer is only good as the raw talent he has to work with, they cant make anybody great boxers.

Trainers and boxers are similar to drivers and F1 cars imo, maybe not as drastic but you get the analogy.
