Tommy Burns is tough to rate, for obvious reasons. Around 5ft 7, 175lbs, he would be a formidable (if short) light-heavyweight. But who is the best true 200lb man against whom he should be favorite? How ridiculous are these names: Firpo? Dokes? Rahman? Wilder? I'm not suggesting that these are even fights, by any stretch. I'm picking out these names as these are the kind of guys I would put at the tail end of a top 100. Does he have a chance? Please throw me some more realistic names. BTW, I'm not drunk... Yet. Thanks in advance.

I'm a sad, sad, individual, bumping my own thread, but this is why...
When I made my heavyweight top 50, Burns was nowhere to be seen. Now that I'm planning my top 100, should he still be nowhere to be seen? :)

Firpo is a good pick, Sam McVea? Trouble is Tommy rarely fought any decent big fighters. Hard to access but he looks better on film than a lot of old timers, could he defeat Sharkey and Maher? Henry Cooper?

Maher, Cooper and the Sharkeys were not natural 200lb men. And I think McVey would destroy Burns. Maybe Firpo is indeed the man. The best true heavy who would lose to Burns.

Burns wasnt usually destroyed, and he did beat O'Brien, Flynn and Hart. McVea had his dodgy days. Yeah, sorry, I missed the 200 pound bit. I'd fancy Tommy over a slew of the big White Hopes, Kaufman, Moran etc.
