I'm not above ribbing U.K fighters. However, it's all in good fun. I love this sport and have no problem with any fighter based soley on what country they happen to reside in. However, I don't know a whole lot about U.K fighters. So I would like to know who the best fighters from the U.K are. There are a couple of caveats though. Number 1, the fighter has to be of English descent(or any country in the U.K). Number 2, the fighter has to have been raised in the U.K. Therefore, let's say there is a fighter of English descent who was raised in the U.S, he doesn't count. Also, a guy like Calzaghe who was raised in the U.K but is not of English descent also doesn't count.

Alright fight fans, show me your expertrise.

Kid Lewis and Jimmy Wilde both outrank him. Lewis would if you counted him as well, but by this thread's criteria he wouldn't count.

Carl Froch's dad's parents were both Polish, but he [Carl's dad'] was born in England...does Carl count?

That's a good point. If one of the parents was born in the U.K, they count.

Well, in that case you have Carl Froch - the best SMW in the world.

...and Joe Calzaghe...his mother is Welsh...born in the UK.

    ...and David Haye...

    ...and Wicky Hatton...

Sorry for the misinterpretation. Some people from Wales don't like to be called English. What I was trying to say is that the fighter can be of English, Welsh, or a descendant of any country in the U.K. Calzaghe was born in the U.K but is of Italian descent.

If his mother is Welsh, then Calzaghe counts as well.

So you have to be English to be a UK fighter?

Calzaghe was bon in London (UK), raised in Wales (UK) and has a Welsh mother (UK), its fair to call him a UK fighter.

Whats the question, do we just have to list great British fighters? Wilde, Lennox, Buchanan, Fitzsimmons, Welsh, Hamed, Benn, Honeyghan, Ted Lewis, Turpin...

Tell me how many Native American Indians have won world titles...?

The big 3 are Calzaghe, Hatton and Haye.

Then in the second tier are guys like Froch and Witter.

Khan probably has the best profile in England alongside Hatton and Khan is the best prospect we have.

BigReg, you still got your UK Vs USA thread going??

You misinterpreted me. My intention was to state that the fighter can be a descendant of any country in the U.K
