Foremans Left Uppercut That Starched Cooney For The Fight Ender In Round 2 Was An Awesome Shot. The Follow Up Right Hand Was Not Really Needed But Better To Make I Guess
Tho not a finishing punch outright, i loved the Holmes uppercut on Weaver that turned a tough fight totally around.
Yeah, I think that was a half hook/uppercut. Another one where the kid looked liked he had been shot with a double barrell
The two things that blow my mind about that punch were: A) How on earth did Weaver get up from that? B) How devastating was that shot, that Mike couldn't recover during the rest period between rounds? The two best punches of Larry's career were the right hand kayo of Evangelista, and that uppercut on Weaver. (Whenever Holmes passes on, news organizations ought to include those two clips with that announcement. The way Holmes is going though, that might be a very long time in coming indeed.)
To be fair Holmes was never a homerun hitter, tho this uppercut was as good as it gets for him. Sweet punch. I think Weaver had given his absolute all up to this point and had nothing left. Larry stopped a lot of tough guys thru accumulation that had never been stopped before. He was a bit like Marvin in this regard, and 15 rounds with either was a very long time indeed. Larry is indeed going well, good to see him so sharp even after fighting into a latter age. It was the one thing that worried him most, not retiring at the right time and ending up punchdrunk. One count came true, but certainly not the other.
Durán's tight right uppercut across his chest while inside is the best. The uppercut combo Lewis landed on Fortune was nasty. Walcott and Spinks demolishing Charles and Marv with left uppercuts are exceptional but obvious. Naz vs Alicea? Holmes vs Weaver? Napoles vs Lopez? Vs Saldano?
Tyson the obvious one. Marciano had an amazing uppercut as well. Knocked out a lot of guys with it. Best ko was mentioned and that was the Walcott Charles uppercut.
That was a great one! Probably the Holmes uppercut that ruined Mike Weaver. Weaver was doing WAAAY too well against Holmes, and to my eyes even knocked him down. That uppercut was just vicious as hell. But the uppercut Bowe landed against Holyfield in their first fight (round 10)...I have to make that one reeeal close. He almost took his head off with it, and it changed the course of the fight (one of the greatest rounds in boxing history, period).
