Like the title says, use who you think threw the best (hardest, most accurate, complete, whatever your criteria) version of a specific punch ever within their weight class. Here's an example just to demonstrate without too much thought put into it. Jab: HW- Ali LH- Spinks MW-Hagler WW- Hearns LW- Leonard FW- Saddler BW- Zarate Fly-Lopez You can use the non-traditional weight-classes if you'd like, I didn't for the sake of time and effort. Each punch- Jab, Cross, Hook, Uppercut.
Yeah, Winstone's jab was vastly superior to Saddler's. Anyways, I'll take care of Strawweight right now: Jab: Ricardo Lopez Cross: Ricardo Lopez Hook: Ricardo Lopez Uppercut: Ricardo Lopez
Left hook HW- Frazier LHW- Foster MW- Ray Robinson WW- Ray Robinson LW-Ike Williams FW- Arguello BW- Olivares and Eder FlyW- Pascual Perez
I actually initially meant to put Pep. The example was mostly just for demonstration though, I trust other posters here far more with their knowledge on older fighters. Hence the thread!
Schmeling would be up there for right hand at hw i'd think. Just the accuracy and the dam potency of it, atg weapon that was. Baer too, but that's more because it was a bit unfair that he was basically carrying a nuclear weapon for a right hand.
Schmeling has one helluva good right hand. I think its hard to pick one fighter per weight because different fighters use a punch in a different way. I think the best way to show it is the HW jab. Holmes Ali Liston All amazingly good jabs , used in totally different ways.
Monzon is beginning to be grossly underrated by this forum..he had a magnificent, though ultimately understated right hand that, like Schmeling's, was an accurate, deadly weapon.
