Lewis would hit Baer straight back to the 1930s

Baer has the power to do it, but the odds of him getting to Lewis aren't good. But who really thought Rahman or McCall would blast out Lennox?

I pick Lennox Lewis to win, but I would advise him to be cautious. Max Baer's punching power was not an illusion.

Lewis of Rahman 2 is one of the most focused and destructive versions of him we ever saw in the ring. It is one of those bouts where you have to wonder who in history could have actually beaten him that night.

The name Max Baer doesn't immediately spring to mind, as being a reasonable answer, let alone find its way onto a considered shortlist.

    Hi Buddy.
Your point about improving after a fatality is flawed somewhat in the case of Emile Griffith, after Paret he annexed the MW title and on the way posted wins over the likes of : Lopez, Muniz, Benvenuti, Curvis, Charnley, Mims, Moyer, Rodriguez twice, Tiger, Archer, and when at the tail end of his career, went 29 rounds with a top 3/4 ATG middle weight in Monzon.
But yes generally a fighter will not improve I would imagine.

Manny Steward in the McCall fight. Probably the Rahman one as well when he saw the shape Lewis turned up in.

But I get your good point. It would have to be a very sloppy version of Lewis to lose vs Max. But that version of Lennox did occasionally exist.
